Daughters of the Wind

Theblackoutstudio has become a curious observer of the ordinary, a shared perception of every day objects. Lead by curiosity, objects often appear ambiguous as a result.

“In this current series of works photographer Thomas Lakeman and artist/gardener Matthew Wright share their experience with the ephemeral nature of a single plant species. As all organic things, plants have a special charm.

“According to the Oxford English Dictionary, Greek anemone means “daughter of the wind”. The anemone was chosen here for its intriguing fluffy seed head. Through its transmutation the Japanese Anemone develops cotton like fruits, which depict intricate, woven structures, a bespoke product of Mother Nature itself.”

‘And above all, watch with glittering eyes the world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.’
