We Are Not Forever
Today we take a look at the work of analogue photographer Dorrell Merritt.

“These images are taken from a short story entitled ‘we are not forever’- it was an exploration of cynicism within what we know and call love, within relationships specifically.

“My motivation… generally I like to explore emotions, and emphasize them through narratives; the creation and organisation of these narratives allows me to explore the use of models; similar to an author with characters. A lot of my work revolves around sadness and pensive aspects of the mind…. there is a certain area of composition/body language which these emotions create and are synonymous with, which I love to document.

“My main photographic inspirations are Lauren Dukoff & Retts Wood… more recently Rita Lino… but I am finding inspiring photographers all the time. Im a big fan of pre 19th century art, and literature so I sometimes turn to those for inspiration; John Dowland – he is the king of sadness.”
