Capturing Special Moments

Farlon Rahaman

Kissing Couple – Farlon Rahaman

Today we’d love to showcase the work of Farlon Rahaman, a talented photographer and a winner of our ‘Black+White‘ Photo Competition!

“A Trinidadian born, keen and creative photography enthusiast, which budded from a tender age. Always found it important to capture special moments. My journey began with the Kodak 22mm F 5.6 camera, snapping away at anything in sight.

“With growing zeal over the years, taking interest in Street Photography, paying close attention to Street Portraits, capturing facial expressions as they could be interpreted in many different ways by everyone has a look at it. Photography has provided a creative outlet, which allows me to encapsulate moments of any of my subjects. This is my sole motivation.

Kissing Couple (Top Image) – this photo was taken whilst I was standing on the Millennium Bridge looking to the river bank. The subjects were walking along the bank, and they stopped to steal a quick kiss before continuing.

I used the wires of the bridge to create a frame for the couple, and using the tungsten effect to compliment the water aspect of the shot. As this shot was taken on a gloomy evening, I think it also enhances the time of day. This was taken with the Canon 450D 55-250mm.

Vintage Lady – Farlon Rahaman

Vintage Lady – this photo was taken on a stroll through Portobello Market, London.
This subject was walking through the bustling street, and she stood out to me as I found her to be different. Her sense of style has a very vintage feel which was most appealing. This was taken with the Canon 450D 55-250mm.

Smoke Break – Farlon Rahaman

Smoke Break – this man captures the vibe that is Brick Lane, he emulates the eclectic vibe and buzz. This was taken with the Canon 450D 55-250mm.

Mini Me – Farlon Rahaman

Mini Me – this was taken in Brick Lane. What inspired this photo was the composition, the background of the little mannequin that mirrored the subject. This was taken with the Canon 450D 55-250mm.

“For now I am challenging myself in trying to think outside of the box for street photography, I am going to try to enter as many competitions and exhibitions that I can. I think I am going to have a look at the London Photo Festival in October.”
