Kate Pearson
As we continue our look at up and coming photography, today we introduce to you the work of Kate Pearson.
Here Kate shares with her some of her photographs and some background on her history and passion for photography.
“At 14 I was interested in anything arts based, but I was also working in the local photography shop; which allowed me to use digital cameras at a time when weddings were shot exclusively on film, and play around in a studio on quiet afternoons.

“Skipping forward a few years and I have graduated with a degree in photography from Sheffield Hallam University in 2010. My final degree show exhibition piece was a project on the Women’s Institute and the new generation of women joining up. At university I felt pressured to choose a genre or a standpoint and to really stick with it, but I think that made it harder for my work to evolve naturally.

“A big inspiration for me is Lee Miller; she lived a very interesting life and had a successful and varied career. Since graduating I have taken a leaf out of Lee Miller’s book and moved to Paris and spent the last 5 months wandering around shooting on my current favourite camera, my Minolta X-700. After a summer of weddings I am planning to move to Vietnam for a few months to take photographs of anything that I choose.”

[...] I’m not bragging or anything, but I was pleased to find out that my work was featured on the “theprintspace” blog. The Print Space are actually very, very lovely. Once I have my laptop screen calibrated, and my negs scanned in at a reasonable quality, (and a ton of cash,) I’m going to get lots and lots of prints from them. Because they’re lovely. (and also very good). http://www.theprintspace.co.uk/blog/kate-pearson/ [...]
