Draw draw draw…

Moe Suzuki

‘Creature triptych – Fish’

Today we introduce to you Moe Suzuki and his fabulous illustrations:

About Moe

“I am always fascinated by minute details of animal anatomies and its connection with life of human being. My imagination often goes into tiny details of birds’ feathers or alpaca wools or tree branches, as if my body dives into those small details in order to relate to them, rather than distinguish as different ‘creatures’. I feel I am always drawings something to remember the bond with nature, something we forgot from the childhood imagination.

Moe’s Work

The illustration on the top is “one of the drawings from the latest triptych series which I focused on my interest in bonds between creatures and human beings. The boy is my friend’s child, ‘Kai’ which means ‘the ocean’ in Japanese. In his very strong and thoughtful eyes I imagined his bond with fish, befriending with them and swimming courageously in the ocean among them.

‘Tree of Life’

“This was drawn for the folk story-telling event. I imagined ‘Tree’ that people are growing in their heads, that is the collection of all our stories/ memories/ thoughts we inherited from the ancestors and also grows everyday with our unique personal experiences.

‘Boat Creature’

“This was the gift for my friend (who is wanting a boat, of course!) I drew his imaginative boat where he lives with other little creatures and life (tree) grows. The drawing was initially a single image but now I am thinking of making a story of him on this boat, going on the adventure!

Moe’s Future Plans

“Draw draw draw… I started drawing just a few years ago, so I would like to explore this medium of expression much deeper, explore different colours and also to try printing. I am also fascinated to collaborate my creativity with others, in stories, poems and music. But most importantly, I’ll be very happy if my works are seen by more and more people, and somehow prick their imaginations sometimes hidden in our busy daily thoughts.”
