Tania Glyde

Found Beauty

Let’s start this week with Tania Glyde who tells us a bit about herself and her work:

“I did my first proper photography with film in the early 90s. Then I didn’t touch a camera for about 10 years. Then I got my first digital camera in 2004 and never looked back. I tend to work with natural/available light. I look for beautiful, striking, or unusual scenes, objects or people, and bring them to life, rather than forcing myself onto them.

“I was very happy to appear in theprintspace’s SoShowMe Exhibition in September 2010 with the image above.

South Bank, Night

“I love night time photography. It was a rainy evening when I took this, near tower Bridge. I pushed it a bit and the unreal streak of colour feels fast-moving, and reflects the energy of the area.

Portrait

“Adam Nevill is a horror writer and an excellent subject. Taken in Holland Park.

Snow

“Sometimes people slip into my landscapes almost by accident. This one was taken on Hampstead Heath. There wasn’t a single footprint between me and the tree.

Battenburg/Tombstone

“Nunhead Cemetery is an amazing place. I will not attempt to deconstruct the juxtaposition of cake and gravestone, for fear of an appearance in Pseud’s Corner.

“As an author myself, I know well how nerve-wracking it is to have your photo taken when your skills might have nothing to do with how you look – so I specialise in relaxed and friendly portraiture. I am, however, open to suggestions.”
